TREATMENT ADVICE

Consultation form: Complete the form before your appointment, your treatment cannot go ahead if it has not been completed in advance.

Alcohol and Caffeine: Avoid alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours before botox treatments as this will increase the risk of bleeding, swelling and bruising.

Supplements: Avoid taking aspirin, Ibruprofen, St Johns Wart and Fish oil supplements, for 7-10 days before the procedure, as these can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. Unless prescribed by your doctor.

Pain Management: Take paracetamol (if not contraindicated) 1 hour prior to your appointment to help with any discomfort you may have.

Eat a small meal or a snack before your appointment.

Medication: Always inform us of all medications, including supplements you may be taking as well as your medical history.

Scheduling Appointments: Make sure you schedule your Botox appointment at least 4 weeks before any special occasions such as a vacation or a wedding. Results from Botox injections take 14 days to appear and a review is required after 14 days.

Flying: Do not schedule an appointment within a week of flying.

Skin Care Products: Do not use any retinol or alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) products on the treatment area for 48 hours prior to your appointment.

Skin Health: Ensure you are not experiencing any active skin infections or illnesses on the day of your treatment.

PRE-CARE ADVICE

Lying Down: Avoid lying down for 4 hours following Botox treatments, this avoids putting pressure on the treatment. Applying pressure to the area can cause the botox to disperse to incorrect areas.

Avoid alcohol and painkillers: avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours following Botox injections as this can make swelling and bruising worse.

Patience: Botox takes 14 days to take full effect, no alterations can be made to the treatment during this time.

Review: Like all medical treatments, the human body can be unpredictable. If there are any concerns following your treatment you can book a review appointment to rebalance the muscle relaxing effects if required this must be booked within 14-18 days of treatment.

Avoid Touching: Do not touch or massage the treated area for at least 24 hours to prevent the spread of the product. I take great care to ensure the administering of Botox is accurate. Touching your face may move the Botox to other areas of the face, and that will affect the success of your treatment.

Exercise and Heat: Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot showers for 24-48 hours post-treatment.

Supplements: Avoid taking aspirin, Ibruprofen, St Johns Wart and Fish oil supplements, following treatment as these can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. Unless prescribed by your doctor. Bruising is common after having Botox, but doing everything in your power to reduce any side effects is important.

Pain Management: Occasionally patients may experience a slight headache, redness and lumps or soreness after their injections, which can be managed with paracetamol if required.

Physical exercise: I recommend waiting at least 24 hours after your Botox procedure to partake in any physical exercise.

Avoid wearing tight headwear: After having Botox in your forehead, avoid wearing anything which may fit tightly across your forehead, such as a hat or headband.
